Agile, UX and Startups
Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (GMT)
As suggested on our meetup group, we'll be talking agile, ux and startups.
We'll have 3 lightning talks, 20 min each, with Q&A and a discussion afterwards.
Sjors Timmer (@sjors) will share his experience, and suggested the topic:
"Most start-ups work on an agile basis, and the ux designers working there -often a ux-team of one- have come up with all kinds of ways to deal with the extreme time and budget constrains. A meetup about sharing ideas, tips and tricks!"
Andrew Travers (@byekick): Fast, quick, cheap - pick, erm, three
"I'll be talking about what it's like to go from a blank sheet of paper to a complete design concept in five days, working in collaboration with a client and involving usability testing every step of the way. I was lucky to work with Leisa Reichelt and Mark Boulton very recently on a really challenging project with limited budget, ambitious scope and very, very little time. I'll be explaining what turned this from being a potentially nightmarish project into the most satisfying thing I've worked on this year."
Andrew Travers is a freelance user experience designer. He writes infrequently at byekick.com and slightly more often on Twitter as @byekick.
Basheera Khan (@bash):
'll take a lightning fast look at the prime characteristics of a start-up that make an agile approach come naturally, and how one can encourage those characteristics in larger organisations - not just in the design and development teams, but beyond to all areas of the business. "
Thanks to Mat Walker and the BFI Southbank for hosting us! We'll be in a meeting room, and there's the Benugo bar to continue conversations afterwards.
Free! We don't have any sponsors for drinks yet, so if you'd like to chip in, let us know (email via eventbrite, meetup, or tweet @johannakoll).
